If you or someone in your care have suffered through any type of felony crime, such as abuse, rape, or assault, the Boone County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office wants you to know that we are here to listen to you and help you. To provide a crucial link between the attorneys working your case and the staff who supports them as well as to give you – the victim – a better understanding of what could be a long and potentially complex criminal prosecution process, the Boone Commonwealth’s Attorney Office has a dedicated, in-house victim’s advocate available to assist you during this trying time.

Our victim’s advocate, as well as our entire team of staff and attorneys, are dedicated to keeping you informed throughout your case, helping you understand the criminal justice process, and “translating” legal terms and explaining issues so you understand exactly what is happening during the criminal justice process.

VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT

(INSTRUCTIONS AND FORM)
Although completely voluntary, the victim impact statement is filled out by the victim (or another person on the victim’s behalf) to help the judge understand how a crime has impacted them. Filling out this form gives victims the opportunity to think about what they want to say and avoid having to speak in open court although like testifying in court, this form, once submitted to the court, becomes an open public record.
